Ignition module

In cars without an ECU, the ignition works by means of contact breakers. A modern ignition coil uses transistors and sensors to control the voltage in the coils much more accurately.

An ignition coil can burn out over time. If your ignition coil is no longer working properly, you will notice that your car is no longer starting or driving smoothly, or that the car cuts out. The engine warning light on the dashboard will also illuminate. If you are not sure whether the problem is in the ignition coil, this is easy to read out with an OBD scanner that you connect to your laptop or phone.

Ignition coil purchase

You can buy a new, good quality ignition coil at Winparts. By entering your registration number, you can easily find suitable parts for your car. The ignition coil is usually not difficult to replace, but it must be done properly. To replace the module, disconnect the battery; in most cars, the module is located under the battery tray. Consult your car's manual for the exact location. Sometimes the ignition coil cannot be replaced separately, and the entire ignition system must be replaced. Consult your mechanic.

Would you prefer to have the module replaced by your garage? By purchasing a new module yourself and having it installed, you can save on material costs. With our fast delivery and expert customer service, we will quickly help you find the right ignition coil for your car.

Ignition module

The ignition module, also called an ignition control unit, controls the ignition of the coils. It manages the voltage supplied to the coils and prevents them from overloading. The coils generate an electrical current, which is then transferred to the rotor and distributor of the engine. This initiates the combustion process and starts your car.
