Replacing the sump gasket

You can easily replace the sump gasket yourself. To replace the gasket, you need to be under the car at the sump. You can use a car ramp or a car jack with axle stands. To replace the sump gasket, follow these steps:

First, drain the engine oil from the sump. You do this by unscrewing the oil drain plug and collecting the oil in an oil drain pan.

After the oil is out of the pan, you can loosen the bolts and nuts of the sump.

Then remove the sump. It is possible that it is very tight, in which case you can carefully pry the pan loose with a hammer and screwdriver.

Then you can remove the gasket from the sump.

Then place the new gasket on the sump.

Finally, you can replace the sump with the new gasket under the engine.

Don't forget to refill the engine oil.
