The turbocharger in your car uses exhaust gases from the engine to achieve higher power. These gases spin a turbine located in the exhaust or on the exhaust manifold of your engine. This turbine drives a second turbine, which pressurises the intake. In this way, the energy in the exhaust, which would otherwise be wasted, is used to increase the pressure at the intake of your car. This allows more fuel to be injected, resulting in significantly higher power output. Regular oil changes and allowing the engine to warm up properly will extend the life of your turbocharger.
