Fuel tank cap

The car's fuel cap can be found on the left or right side of the car. In some countries cars drive on the left and in others they drive on the right. The placement of the fuel cap has traditionally been adapted by manufacturers to this. That is why on some cars the cap is on the left and on other cars the cap is on the right. In addition, the alternation in the left and right placement of the fuel cap ensures that the distribution of cars per fuel pump remains proportional. Otherwise, it would get very crowded at gas stations on one side of the fuel pump.

Do you ever forget which side the fuel cap is on? You can easily find out by looking at the symbol near the fuel gauge on the dashboard. The fuel gauge symbol often has an arrow indicating which side the fuel tank is on. Is there no arrow? Then you can see which side the fuel pump hose is on in the symbol. The fuel tank is also located on that side.

Over time, a new fuel cap can break due to age, get lost, or maybe even get stolen. To keep your fuel safe, it is important to replace the fuel cap as soon as possible.

Types of fuel caps

There are several types of fuel caps that you can choose from. You can choose a cap with a lock, a cap without a lock or a universal cap. A lockable cap can be useful to protect the fuel from theft. With the high fuel prices, fuel theft is becoming more and more common. Some cars already have a petrol valve that closes automatically. In this case, a cap without a lock is more appropriate for your vehicle. Our universal fuel caps have a smart design, which means that they can be used on most car makes and models. The universal tank cap is mainly used as an emergency cap or intermediate solution. To keep the fuel as safe as possible, we advise you to buy a cap that fits well with your car.
